Will he do it? What do i do?

Me and my partner have been togeather for 18months, we had lived togeather for a year. We have been recently staying in diffrent towns due to unfortunate cercumstances (our jobs) ever since we have been better and closer than we were while living togeather i had finaly felt that we had connected... Until couple of days ago i found sex messages to and from him, on his IM with a COUPLE (male and feamale) who he has been friends with for years. Heart wrenched all i could do was cry. Next morning i asked if he was happy with me and would he ever do anything to hurt me, he said he was very happy and he wouldnt, i then told him i knew about the messages, photos and ph calls and what they were planing to do next time he saw them. He laughed at me and said its just words to make them happier in thier relationship and that i shouldnt worry and that he would never do any of the things he wrote and said. A week has gone by and we have been acting like it never happend but inside its been chewing me up alive i don't know if i should believe him or not.. I don't know what to do.
