Cheating is always something that couples fear, but should they be more worried when their spouse goes on a business trip?

According to recent infidelity statistics, when the spouse is traveling alone to another city, state, or country, it is more likely that they will succumb to temptation that eventually may lead to them being unfaithful.

There is even a theory or rule that has been made up to substantiate this claim. It is known as "The 50 Mile Rule".

In other words, if your spouse has traveled a distance of 50 miles or more, they are more likely to cheat on you.

So why is this?

Cheating on business trips occur because a lot of spouses resist the urge to cheat in fear of getting caught. The further away they go from their loved one, the less they feel they will get caught. This allows them to get past that initial fear.

Think about it, what would you do if you thought for a "fact" that you wouldn't get caught? Alright, maybe not you, but plenty of people take that extra step when they feel that they will not get caught.

So if cheating on business trips is such a problem, what can you do to prevent it?

The truth of the matter is, if your spouse's infidelity is totally random it will be very hard to find out about it. However, if it is somewhere they travel frequently then eventually there may the usual signs that they may eventually display.

The best thing that you can do is to pay attention to your relationship. By doing this you won't neglect your loved one, but you will also be able to pick up on cues that things just aren't right as well.
